This is my pride and joy, Clifford. He's the sweetest dog you'll ever meet! If he had to choose between a big juicy steak or a simple pat on the head, he'd pick the pat any day! We've had Clifford since he was only 6 weeks old. Where does the time go? He is our oldest basset hound, and still as active and healthy as a puppy! Clifford has an outstanding 52 champions in his pedigree! He is the perfect example of the Appalachian Big Foot line. He is triple registered with AKC, CKC and NKC.

The size of our basset hounds are within the AKC breed standard. At maturity, the male basset usually weighs between 55 and 60 pounds, and stands 12, to not more than 15 inches tall at the shoulder. The female is usually about 10 pounds lighter and 1 inch or so shorter than the male. If you are looking for a larger basset hound, please consult your veterinarian before making your decision. Basset Hounds that weigh over 60 pounds, are more likely to have joint problems, back injuries, arthritis, etc......conditions resulting from short little legs, being made to carry a massive weight.

I can't have a website, without mentioning our couch potato Ricky! He's never been a daddy, but I felt that I should introduce him to you all any way. Ricky isn't a typical basset hound. He's fat, lazy, and likes to sleep a lot.......but there's other things that make him non-typical. Even though he's a male, he would like to be a mommy. Maybe it's because he's neutered, he doesn't have the crazy male hormones. He will lay with newborn puppies, lick them all over, and care for them like they're his own. He can't figure out why they won't nurse. I have to keep a close eye on him when it's time for the puppies to leave, because he will run away from home. Also, another thing that's unusual, Ricky has panic attacks. He's terrified of storms and will almost have a heart attack at the first sign of rain. I cringe at the idea of medicating my dogs, unless it's medically necessary, but it's getting to the point where I truly feel that Ricky's going to fall over dead if I don't start giving him anti-anxiety meds in advance of thunderstorms. Another little quirk that he has......he's scared of linoleum. He never had any problems with it, until he turned 4 years old. The last thing that I can think of, and it's hilarious.....Ricky's petrified of Shop-Vacs, even if they're not running! Maybe it's the long black hose that gives him the willies......I just don't know. But that's our Ricky. If you're a stranger that he's never met, he instantly loves you! He loves attention from new people. He'll even hop into strangers' vehicles and want to go for a ride! Ricky was born here, 6 years ago, to Sadie and Clifford. You will see a lot of his photos throughout our website, because he always gets in front of the camera when I'm trying to take photos.
This is our youngest basset, Mader. That's pronounced May-dur....short for Home Grown Tuh-Mader. He is now 2 years old and has sired the most beautiful puppies! He is definitely giving Clifford a run for his money, in who produces the prettiest puppies! Mader is AKC registered, with an amazing 67 champions in his pedigree!
Hank is our newest male. He's a beautiful tri color with tons of wrinkles. He is AKC registered with 69 champions in his pedigree!
